Victoria Naylor

My proposal story

Martyn proposed to me seven years after we became boyfriend and girlfriend back at school in 2006. He proposed on Christmas Eve 2013 when we were 21 and 22. Still only very young to get engaged but it’s something we both wanted and both our families approved. He got down on one knee in the snow in his parents’ back garden in Lostock and asked me to be his wife. I was the happiest girl in the world; I couldn’t wait to tell our parents. He definitely made that a Christmas to remember.

Wedding style

Our wedding was on the 7th September 2019 at Delamere Manor in Cheshire. The colour scheme for our wedding was blush pink, grey and rose gold. We didn’t really have a theme but the way I described how I wanted the ceremony and wedding breakfast to be set up was like a subtle enchanted forest with a soft, romantic feel. Tall elegant table centerpieces, foliage everywhere, lights dimmed with candle lights and up-lighters to help create the romantic atmosphere. It was beautifully perfect.

Shopping experience

I was very nervous about shopping for my wedding dress as I thought it would have been a stressful experience and also I wanted to look at myself and feel good in the dresses I chose, which I was worried about. Emma was amazing with me and neither of those things were an issue. She put me at ease and gave me confidence and I loved shopping for my wedding dress. It’s something you dream of doing from being a little girl, as is actually getting married. I wish I could try all those dresses on again, it was so much fun!

How did you choose 'The One'?

My best friend Katie spotted and suggested the Enzoani Marley gown to me on our first look at the dresses, I said that it was lovely but that it was too plain for what I thought I wanted so we carried on looking along with my mum and sister and decided on five very different dresses to take into the dressing room to try on. All of them were stunning and I definitely had a favourite as this point. Emma then went and chose another five dresses for me to try on and brought in with her the Enzoani Marley gown for me to try on – she hadn’t heard the earlier conversation between me and Katie. I put it on and oh my, there I was stood in my dream wedding dress looking at myself in the mirror in tears. Emma chose me a Cathedral style veil to try on with my dress and it was perfection, I looked like a bride. Ellie Goulding, ‘How Long Will I Love You’ was playing in the background and I chose to walk down the aisle to that. I will never forget that moment, ever.

Tell us about your experience at Emma Louise Bridal

Shopping for my wedding dress was an amazing experience. Emma, Estelle and the girls are so lovely and caring and it really felt like they wanted the best for me for my special day. They did everything they could to make sure that my dress was perfect and that I was happy with it. I highly recommend visiting Emma Louise Bridal for your wedding dress as you won’t need to look elsewhere. It’s the only place I went to look and I came away with dream dress.

What are your favourite memories from your wedding day?

I had the best day of my life and so did Martyn. Becoming Mrs. Naylor was a dream come true. Having all our family and friends with us on our special day really meant the world to us. The entire day is my best memory, from getting ready with the girls, walking down the aisle with Dad, the wedding breakfast, first dance, evening reception and everything in between. The whole day went just as I had planned and I couldn’t have been happier, even the sun came out and we were able to get married outside. I can’t thank everyone involved enough.

If you have a honeymoon planned - where are you going?

We flew to Las Vegas on the 12th September for our honeymoon and had the best time; Martyn also celebrated his 30th Birthday while we were there so double celebrations.

Do you have any advise for other couples planning their wedding?

If I could give any advice to anyone planning their wedding it would be to really research photographers, do not think ‘oh they’re cheap we’ll go with them’ the pictures are the memories you get to physically keep forever so make sure you chose a good one. I also really recommend a videographer to capture all those special moments from the day. I love watching our video back, it makes me cry every time and I cannot wait for us to have children so they can watch it too. One last thing, this is your day, if you want it, go for it no matter what it is (that’s what we did), don’t have any regrets and you’ll have the best day of your lives.
