Rebecca - A beautiful British summer wedding!

9th February 2024

My proposal story

We went for a sunrise walk in the Lake District up one of the Fells. There at the top as the sun was rising, my fiance popped the question. There was no one around and all you could hear was the birds. It was truly magical If not very early!

Wedding style

British Summer Wedding Our parents had made personalised garden games for us that we had saved from Pinterest and we had a campervan take myself and the bridesmaids to the church. Then we had a campervan photo booth and an ice cream van with ice creams/sorbets as our desert! Fortunately, the British Summer weather surprised us, as all week it was torrential rain but on our special day it was blue skies. We really were very lucky!

Shopping experience

Nerve wracking as I didnt really know exactly what I was looking for. I had an idea but until I saw it I didnt know what it was. It was fun though as I dont normally enjoy shopping but getting to try on incredible dresses really made me feel like a princess.

How did you choose 'The One'?

I remember seeing the Sophia Tolli dress online and thought Wow! Thats jaw-dropping! When the girls brought it out for me at Emma Louise it was just as magical. I tried it on and felt confident which is very rare for me when trying on clothes. I stepped out to show my mum, auntie, grandma and maid of honour and their reactions were all very complimentary and I even saw my mum tear up! In the church, my brother was crying and told me I looked incredible.

Tell us about your experience at Emma Louise Bridal

From all my visits, the girls were super helpful and positive! They allowed me to try a range of dresses on all of various styles until we narrowed down exactly what we were looking for. They treated all the dresses carefully and gave lots of advice on jewellery and accessories. I would definitely recommend them to any bride!

What are your favourite memories from your wedding day?

Driving from the church to the venue in the campervan, we could see guests on the lawn playing the games our parents had made. For me, that made it all seem worthwhile as everyone was having fun. Of course, as well the moment we left the church as husband and wife and our friends and family were cheering and smiling. We had so many compliments about our wedding and the organisation we put in. Everyone had a great time and one guest even said it was the best wedding hed been to in a long time.

If you have a honeymoon planned - where are you going?

Vietnam and Cambodia!

Do you have any advise for other couples planning their wedding?

You will argue over silly little details but enjoy it, its all part of the process! Every effort you put into your planning is worth it because at the end of it all you will have an incredible day. The more you plan early on and with help, the more you can relax closer to the big day. A few days before the wedding we were sat, just the two of us, in the garden having a beer and felt super relaxed! People asked us if we were doing last minute prep and we just laughed and raised our glasses!
