Melissa - An amazing wedding day at Rowton Castle
27th January 2023
My proposal story
Me and Tom had a week away in London in November 2021, we had done the shows, restaurants, site seeing and even spent a night at The Ritz! We went to Hatton Garden to look at rings for ideas and we ended up getting mine made. Tom got down on one knee at Whitehall Gardens which is where I used to go with my family for many years as my grandad had an apartment in Whitehall Court.
Wedding style
Our wedding date was 28th August 2022. We found our venue Rowton Castle by chance. I was looking at venues on a search engine for Cheshire and randomly Rowton Castle came up even though it was in Shropshire not Cheshire. I instantly fell in love with it and when we went to view it we just knew it was the one for us! Our theme was classy & floral. We had light pink bridesmaids dresses and navy Grooms men suits. We had white and pink flowers with lots of eucalyptus. I made all our confetti by drying out rose petals. I also made my own save the dates & invites. Our table names were drawings of mountains we have climbed to make it more personal. We got married outside with views of the rolling Shropshire country side, it was beautiful!
Shopping experience
Emma Louise Bridal was the first shop I went too. I was recommended it by my cousin. I had Amber looking after me. My mum and my best friend were with me. I was quite nervous but Amber made me feel at ease. We sipped Prosecco which made the experience really special and the shop is just gorgeous!
How did you choose 'The One'?
We all picked 2-3 dresses each from the collections downstairs and upstairs. I had no idea what style I wanted and as I tried them on I realised what I liked and didnt like. Amber also selected a few options that we hadnt picked. I must have tired on 10+ dresses and when I tried on Penelope by Stella York I just knew it was the one! I was smiling from ear to ear, everyone agreed it was perfect and I didnt want to take her off!
Tell us about your experience at Emma Louise Bridal
The staff were very helpful, friendly and kind. As I have mentioned the shop is beautiful! My experience was wonderful from start to finish. I loved the little goodie bag you get once youve picked your dress. They also take your picture on a polaroid camera with the date which you collect when you collect your dress. So I have kept this for my memory box!
What are your favourite memories from your wedding day?
The whole day was just perfect from start to finish. I absolutely loved seeing how everything I had planned come together so well. I remained calm and I honestly enjoyed every second, the sun was shining and sharing the day with our friends and family was really special. We had a saxophone for the evening which all our guests enjoyed dancing too! He was definitely a highlight and kept everyone on the dance floor for hours!
If you have a honeymoon planned - where are you going?
We did a mini moon to Rome & Venice straight after the wedding but we have our real honeymoon to the Maldives in January- we cant wait!
Do you have any advise for other couples planning their wedding?
Enjoy it! I loved planning our wedding, Im not sure what to do with myself now its done haha. Be organised with your planning and it will feel less stressful. The Hitched app was really good for planning. I also got bought a wedding planner which I loved as it had sections so I could write everything down. I created a spreadsheet with how much each suppliers cost, what we had paid and the date the next payment was due. Pinterest will also become your new best friend!!!
