My proposal story

I decided to give up alcohol nearly 4 years ago. I met Mark about 3 months in, who had been sober a while by then too. As 2 people who were on the recovery journey, we instantly bonded.

There is a spot, by the water near where we live, where every year I took my sobriety pictures. Its a beautiful spot, surrounded with trees. It is also the spot Mark asked me to be his girlfriend.

One day Mark left smartly dressed (I knew something was happening by this alone!) told me to put on something nice (he knows me well and pre thought the pictures) and said meet me at our spot.

I walked there knowing something was about to happen that would change my life forever. He was waiting, with a big bunch of roses and got down on one knee.

Because I would not have met him without my sobriety, him picking this place was beyond meaningful.

He then took me to dovestone for a picnic in the sun. Just perfect!

Wedding style

Rustic, light and blush pinks, elegant. We wanted a small wedding with people who respect and admired our strength to turn our lives around. We had a sober, intimate wedding.

Shopping experience

Utterly amazing!!!!! The place is absolutely gorgeous and so bridal!! It felt magical walking in. Decoration is beautiful. I loved having my own private room to try on dresses. Made me feel secure and important.

How did you choose 'The One'?

It was the first dress i tried on EVER, at Emma Louise! It just felt so right!

Tell us about your experience at Emma Louise Bridal

The experience was absolutely amazing! Felt listened to, cared for and special. All the women who work here are just so lovely and attentive. I have recommended to 3 brides already.

What are your favourite memories from your wedding day?

Walking down the aisle to my wedding singer singing a song I wanted since I was a child.

Seeing my husband cry, looking at me in my dress

The food (obviously!)

The speeches

The fact that I felt like a film star in my wedding dress!

If you have a honeymoon planned - where are you going?

Lake Garda, travelling around Italy together, Rome, Venice, Milan.

Do you have any advise for other couples planning their wedding?

Just do you! Have your day the way you want it. Dont people please, or think what does everyone else want or will they like this or that. Have it exactly how you want it!

Also, dont stress or be nervouswhen you get to the end of that aisle, you are in a world of your own.nothing else matters .
