Camilla - A Wedding Day at The Sandy Cove Hotel
25th November 2022
My proposal story
Dean planned to propose in summer 2020 at the top of a mountain in Maderia, where we had booked our holiday. Due to lockdown this plan couldnt go ahead. He was hoping to wait until we could holiday again but my mum became seriously unwell so he proposed on Christmas Day at home instead so that we could celebrate with family.
Wedding style
We had always planned to get married at The Sandy Cove Hotel in North Devon as it is a place my family had been on holiday almost every year since I was born. Dean had started visiting with us after we got together. We might be biased but we believe the view out over the sea and coastline is the most beautiful in the world. I also love Italy and was influenced by the Amalfi Coast for the decoration and theme. My favourite colour is blue so the theme was sea blue and lemons. We love summer and sunshine and I hate the cold so we kept our fingers crossed that the August weather would be lovely and warm for us.
Shopping experience
I was apprehensive as I had lost my mum and always imagined picking a dress out with her but I went mentally prepared and took my lovely bridesmaids who helped to make the experience fun.
How did you choose 'The One'?
I had seen a Rosa Clara dress on Emma Louise Bridals Instagram which I loved so booked an appointment. I tried a few dresses on but ended up buying the dress I had seen on insta on my first visit. I definitely knew what styles I liked before I started looking.
Tell us about your experience at Emma Louise Bridal
It was a very relaxing experience visiting Emma Louise Bridal and Kate was really helpful. They are always super organised and friendly at every point of contact.
What are your favourite memories from your wedding day?
I could list our favourite cliche wedding moments from the day but some memorable highlights were making all of our guests exercise before the wedding breakfast was served as Dean and I are personal trainers.. the photos from this were hilarious. Also winning the limbo in my wedding dress and heels is probably my proudest moment.
If you have a honeymoon planned - where are you going?
We went down in to Cornwall for a week after the wedding, we felt very lucky that the beautiful wedding weather followed us. We are soon going to Dubai and Mauritius for our main honeymoon.
Do you have any advise for other couples planning their wedding?
Weddings are not worth stress or worrying about. There are more serious things in life, approach any hiccups or challenges with a level head. As a control freak and someone who works at a wedding venue, trust that the staff know what they are doing and it will go to plan, just enjoy it!
