We booked our wedding before we were even engaged. Story of our entire wedding to be honest, doing things backwards! I’d always said I didn’t want to be proposed to on my birthday, valentines day or Christmas. So he tricked me, let me open my birthday presents then set me off on a goose chase looking in the fire place for my present from him. I turn round and he’s there on one knee. Not only did I get a ring but he got me a decent present as well! Spoilt I know! He said he did it on my birthday as I wouldn’t expect it as I’d always said I didn’t want it then.
The wedding plans didn’t happen as planned due to the pandemic. We had to cancel due to Covid and replanned it for the following year but ended up getting married during Covid with the 15 of us in church. Then followed by our parents coming back to ours to watch the Manchester Derby, whilst me and my new husband sat on the floor in our dress / suit. The plan was still to go ahead the following year with a blessing, but again had to cancel due to Covid. We eventually had a party with our friends and family in October 2021, 10 months after we were married.
I wasn’t looking forward to dress shopping in the slightest, strange I know. My friends and Mum on the other hand were incredibly excited. Emma Louise Bridal was the first bridal shop we visited, as soon as we stepped foot in the door Amber made me feel as ease and she was amazing. I had a very open mind about what I wanted and she found me the prefect dress.
It felt prefect. My friends were resisting saying it was ‘The One’ but my mum couldn’t help herself and shed a little tear. Deep down I knew it was ‘The One’ but had to try on some others just to be sure. Nothing came close to how I looked and felt in ‘The One’.
I can’t speak highly enough about the unbelievably friendly service I got from the moment I walked in the door, to finding ‘The One.’ I went for my first dress fitting and then Covid unfortunately hit. I then had the second one booked in, but in between cancelled the wedding. They agreed to keep my dress safe for me until July the following year. Come the end of the year we decided to get married during lockdown restrictions. I contacted Emma and within 2 weeks of emailing I had a dress fitting. After my dress was altered, when I got married I remember feeling like a million dollars. When I came to try my dress on for my wedding party following another cancelled day, my dress didn’t fit as I’d just got back off honeymoon and was expecting! I contacted Emma to see if my dress could be altered again and she booked me in no a problem. The adjustment options were all explained, and bingo the dress was altered! I managed to wear it for our party again feeling a million dollars and with a little bump underneath.
The fact my Mum was able to be here has to be my favourite memory of the actual wedding day. Okay it wasn’t the wedding I planned, but we were surrounded by my our families and some of our friends came and stood outside so were there for some photos after. My favourite part of the wedding party was seeing everyone’s reaction to my husband announcing that we were expecting!
Our original plan was Hawaii and Vegas, but Covid saw an end to that. After a difficult 18 months we just wanted a holiday abroad and didn’t care where. We ended up in all inclusive hotel in Greece with a swim up room!
All Saints & Martyrs Church. Party was at Rochdale Golf Club
Retro Hair for church, The Bridal Artist Company for the party.
